▇阿里山起源

阿里山係玉山西峯延伸支脈眾山之總稱，1696年<台灣府志>及紀載阿里山之名，旦地名起源無由考證。阿里山國家森林遊樂區位南投、嘉義兩縣交界，面積1,400公頃，海拔2,000~2,700公尺，以五奇、八景及深厚的林業底蘊享譽世界。
Alishan is not a single mountain, but a ridge of Yushan (Jade Mountain). The name, Alishan, apperared in Taiwan choreography, published in 1696. However, the origin of this name has already lost its trace
in history. Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, located between Chiayi and Nantou, covers an area of 1,400 hectares with the main recreation for its five wonders, eight sights, and enriched forestry.
 

 

▇阿里山由來

　　聞名中外的「阿里山」，究竟指的是那座山？

      事實上阿里山旅遊地圖找不到也無人知曉，諸羅縣誌只說「阿里山離縣治十里許，山廣而深峻。番剽悍、諸羅山、哆囉國皆畏之；遇諸塗、趨引避匿。」並未清楚描述阿里山位於何處，定義也非常模糊。台灣光復以後則編故事的本領盛行，嘉義阿里山林管處出版的旅遊簡介敘述：相傳於250多年前鄒（曹）族有一酋長名「阿巴里」，勇敢善獵由達邦翻山越嶺，至今之阿里山打獵，常滿載而歸，就常常帶族人入山打獵，每次均有豐富成果，其族人為敬仰他，乃將其地名稱為『阿里山』。（出處於嘉義阿里山林管處出版的旅遊簡介）

　　近年來，經森林事業區重劃，認定阿里山分別由大塔山、塔山、松山、烏松山、鹿堀山、獅子頭山、祝山、萬歲山、兜山、千人洞山、光崙山、大凍山、火炎山、篤鼻山、對高岳等15座山所組成，稱之為阿里山脈，隔楠梓仙溪與玉山相望。

　　 因倒U字型的山脈缺口，收進夏季的西南季風，平均氣溫為攝氏10.6度，在冬季最寒冷之日亦可達零下3℃，蚊蚋絕跡，相當涼爽，實為台灣休養避暑最佳處所。到秋冬之際，東北季風的影響，冷鋒挾帶豐沛的水氣南下，翻越阿里山山脈，在山谷間形成變化多端的阿里山雲海美景。

 

▇阿里山國家風景區

阿里山國家風景區面積達41,520公頃，含括番路、竹崎、梅山、阿里山等4鄉，毗鄰遼闊的嘉南平原，交通路網如葉脈般延展於群山之中。阿里山的美，除了我們印象中的日出、鐵道之外，還有層巒疊翠的山林綠意，變幻莫測的流雲、飛瀑，層次分明的茶園風光及原鄉人文采風，都是令人驚豔的遊憩焦點。阿里山國家風景區係以公路軸線、地理人文特色區分為「阿里山公路沿線」、「西北廊道地區」及「鄒族文化部落」

▇阿里山國家風景區~自然生態Natural Ecology

區內花木眾多，櫻花、台灣一葉蘭、木蘭、杜鵑、繡花球、射千菖蒲、海芋、小雛菊、多紫花藤等，在每年春夏時節繽紛綻放，為園區妝點亮麗妝容。而秋冬時節的園區，浸染在台灣紅榨槭、青嵐及銀杏所構成的黃金、艷紅浪漫之中。
園區除了豐富植物資源，更是觀賞中、高海拔鳥類的絕佳地點，早期即吸引眾多國外學者及探險家造訪。常見林間精靈如冠羽畫眉、青背山雀、白耳畫眉；另有栗背林鴝及黑長尾雉皆是在阿里山首度被記錄到的鳥種，已然是愛鳥人的樂園。

There are aa huge variety of flowers and trees inside Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, such as cherry trees, Pleione formosana(Taiwan pleione), Magnolia, Rhododendron, Hydrangea macrophlla,Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora(Crocus Tritonia), Alocasia macrorrhizos, Bellis perennis(Daisy), and Wisteria floribunda. Alishan Forest Recreation Area comes alive in a profusion of floral colors in spring and summer. When it comes to autumn and winter, this area is embracrd by fascinating gold and bright red blossoms of Acer morrisonense (Taiwan red maple), Acer serrulatum (Green maple), and Ginkgo biloba(Maidenhair tree).
In addition to abundant natural resources, Alishanm known an ideal venue to observe middle-and high-altitude brids, has attracted a large number of overseas scholars and explorerd from early days. 
Common brid species in this area include Yuhina brunneiceps(Formosan Yuhina), Parus monticolus (Green-backed Tit), Heterophasia auricularis (White-eared Sibia), Tarsiger johnstoniae (Collared Bush Robin), and Syrmaticus mikado (Mikado Pheasant), making this place a paradise for bird enthusiasts.
